After two months of open qualifiers and extremely competitive VCT Challengers, we have finally reached VCT Masters Reykjavík, in which a total of 12 qualified teams will battle against each other for the ultimate title and a massive prize pool.
In addition to this, the winners will also get a chance to book a slot in the final tournament of the year, i.e., the VALORANT Champions. VCT Masters Reykjavík is the first VALORANT international tournament in 2022, and Riot Games has revealed its complete details, including its start date, schedule, format, and more.
VCT Masters Reykjavík Start Date and Format
VCT Masters Reykjavík will begin on April 10, and the teams will fight in different stages to reach the final match, which will be taking place on April 24. The tournament will begin with a double-elimination GSL style group play which means that four teams per group will play two opening matches.
The two winners will be fighting for the final spot in the winners match that will decide the overall winner of the group stage. So to summarise the format, a total of eight teams will face off against each other in the opening match that will result in two winners and two losers.
This is followed by an eight-team double-elimination bracket where the top four teams of their region are seeded in the bracket already. The remaining eight teams will be drawn into two groups based on their respective final placements at Challenger events.
